David Carnegie began his construction career at 17 as an apprentice in Central Otago, spending five years gaining hands-on experience across all phases of building—from setting out to finishing. He later worked in London on rebuilds and remodels of historic properties, then spent 12 years focused on loft conversions across North, West and South London, where he met colleague Vaughan.

Returning to New Zealand with his family in late 2014, David rejoined Vaughan at Arch Construction, working on a wide range of residential and commercial projects. In 2019 he and partner Vaughan purchased Scott Commercial and set out to build a company of skilled, dedicated individuals focused on delivering high-quality results and a positive client experience. At Scott Commercial David has taken on roles from estimating to project management, giving him a thorough understanding of the full construction process.

Outside work, David enjoys time on the water with his wife and daughters and socializing with friends and family.

Vaughan Morris brings over two decades of hands-on experience in construction and interior fit-out to his role as Director. He began his career as an apprentice in a major construction company, training in an in-house joinery shop and developing a strong eye for craftsmanship and detail. Early career highlights include renovating an existing building into a private residence and completing a range of independent projects from retail fit-outs to a large office fit-out — the moment that ignited his focus on interior construction.

Vaughan broadened his experience overseas, working in the United States and London on high-profile projects, including work on Regent Street. On returning to New Zealand he founded Arch Construction in Auckland in 2004. In 2019 he partnered with long-time colleague David Carnegie to acquire Scott Commercial Ltd, building on its strong foundations and driving continued growth. He is committed to a positive, collaborative company culture where skilled teams deliver professional, high-quality results on time and keep clients informed throughout the process. Vaughan expects strong performance and integrity from both staff and contractors, many of whom have been with SCL and Arch since the early days.

Outside work, Vaughan enjoys golf with a close group of friends and travelling with his wife and two children.
